Okay Soldiers listen up,

We are almost a month away from the event, I hope you are all ready!

Next up we are doing a paint competition and here are the particulars:

Painting Competition
Category 1 - BEST SINGLE MINIATURE. This category is open to any single 28mm WW2 miniature to be used for Bolt Action and is on a standard 25mm gaming base.

Category 2 - BEST TEAM MINIATURES. This category is open to any team models (MG team, Bazooka Team, ETC) WW2 miniature to be used for Bolt Action mounted either on a larger base or on separate 25mm bases.

Category 3 - BEST UNIT/VEHICLE. This category is open to any single Unit or Vehicle WW2 miniature to be used for Bolt Action.

Judges
The judging for this event will be done by the store staff that is hosting the Gathering in the Desert. This allows the GitD organizers to enter the Painting Competition without having a bias towards the judging. In all cases the judges decisions are final. They reserve the right to move entries into a different category if they are entered inappropriately or to disqualify a model if they feel it breaches the rules of the competition. The judges nor the Gathering in the Desert organizers will enter into any discussion about the judges decisions.

Conversions
If you did any conversion work, you must inform the GitD staff of which models you used. Since you may use other models other than Warlord models. We want to make sure that we are taking your work into consideration when judging your work.Overall the judges will be looking for well-painted models that adhere to the imagery of WW2.

Guidelines for Entries
All entries must be personally handed in by their creators and registered at the Gathering in the Desert check in table on the first day of the event. We will not accept entries on behalf of competitors who are not in attendance at the event. Also all entries will be stored in a display cabinet the whole weekend and you will not be able to use these models during the tournament.

All entries must be collected at the end of the event by the entrant. All models should be the work of a single hobbyist and not a collaborative work with anyone but the entrant. Anyone found violating this rule will be immediately disqualified and forbidden from entering any further Painting Competitions.

All competitors will be fully responsible for the transport of their entries to and from the competition and for storing their own transport and packing materials. Please do not ask us to look after any sort of carrying cases or transport boxes for the entries.

Once entries are registered at the main desk, we will of course undertake the greatest care of handling the entries. However, we can not accept responsibility for any loss or damage to individual entries. Models entered into the competition are done at the competitors own risk. Also the entrants grant full right to Gathering in the Desert to photograph and publish any images of said entries as they see fit.

Finally remember the point of the competition is to showcase the efforts of our hobbyists and to show off their painting and modeling skills. You may not agree with the final results, but please bear in mind that the judges decisions are final and absolute.

 Set up for the event
Lastly for my set up crew, I will need you at Imperial Outpost at 8:00 am on Saturday and  Sunday. After the last game on Saturday, we will be breaking down the tables of terrain and storing them at the store. We will need to set them up again Sunday morning ( I will be taking pictures of the tables so we can set them up again.)

GitD Operation Scorpion Updates

Okay,

This weekend has had some very interesting changes come to Bolt Action, the biggest is the Dice/Unit cap. Per Warlord here are the changes:

1. FORCES
Players must use a 1,000 requisition points force, consisting of one or more Reinforced Platoons, as presented in the Bolt Action rulebook (page 124). Armies can comprise of a maximum of 12 Order dice (i.e. 12 units).

These forces must be selected using one of the following army lists:
- The army list section of the Armies of Germany supplement book.
- The army list section of the Armies of United States supplement book.
- The army list section of the Armies of Great Britain supplement book.
- The army list section of the Armies of the Soviet Union supplement book.
- The army list section of the Armies of Imperial Japan supplement book.
- The army list section of the Armies of France and the Allies supplement book.
- The army list section of the Armies of Italy and the Axis supplement book.

So this means that for GitD, we will be using these new changes. Also after further review, we will not be using any of the current PDF forces that are covered by the current army books.

Another big item, is that army lists need to be turned into me by January 22nd, this is one month before the actual event, this will give me time to check your army list and notify you if changes need to be made. Army lists can be sent to: Tjkulinski@cox.net

We are also happy to welcome Gorgon Studios as a sponsor for GitD 2014. We will have a few of their new WW2 line of figures and I highly recommend you take a look at what they have.

Last thing, for those of you local, there will be a 1000 point tournament run at Imperial Outpost on November 16th. So if you want to get in a few games for practice, this would be a great chance to test out your force.

Once again if you have any questions or comments, you can either here on the blog or contact me at Tjkulinski@cox.net
